Al Gore & the Nuclear Peril
or
The Upcoming Fight in the Senate

Completely contrary to what you are permitted to know from the newspapers, TV, and radio, there is a British-driven parliamentary coup d’Etat going on in the United States. Were President Clinton to be removed from office, and Al Gore become President, nuclear war is not only possible, it is likely.

This week’s LaRouche Connection features the presentation of LaRouche’s U.S. spokesman, Dr. Debra Freeman at an emergency town meeting in Baltimore, Jan. 5, 1999—one of dozens of such meetings being held throughout the country, to inform the public about the gravest danger faced by our nation since its founding, and to mobilize popular support for the Presidency.

The Eurasian Landbridge:
Washington Must Ally with China, Not London!

Hosted by Dennis Small, Ibero-American Editor for EIR magazine, this week’s LaRouche Connection public access cable TV program features the decade-long organizing of Lyndon and Helga LaRouche for the Eurasian Landbridge, sometimes known as the New Silk Road, as the way for the world to build its way out of the present global economic crisis.

The program documents how China, Russia, India, and many other nations are working together to build this largest construction project ever attempted by mankind, which will span the continents of Asia and Europe, with links through the Middle East into Africa, and across the Bearing Straits into the Americas.

The extraordinary worldwide response to the LaRouche proposal, is typified by the remarks of Jose Lopez Portillo, to a Mexico City audience on December 1, 1998, which featured Helga LaRouche as the keynote speaker. The former President of Mexico said, ``Now is the time for the world to listen to the wise words of Lyndon LaRouche.”

Included in the program, is an excerpt from a May 10, 1997 meeting in Washington, DC, in which Lyndon LaRouche explains the theory and practice of his Landbridge proposal.

EIR Talks: January 20, 1999

The impeachment trial playing out before the U.S. Senate against President Clinton, has been from the outset a foreign intelligence-directed assault on the U.S. Presidency, which has no basis in law whatsoever. To the extent that any kind of "high crimes and misdemeanors" were committed by anyone, those crimes were committed by the people who have been working around the clock since the day Bill Clinton was sworn into office, to destroy his Presidency.

In this week’s edition of The LaRouche Connection public access cable TV program, taped January 20, Jeffrey Steinberg, Counterintelligence Editor for EIR magazine, presents the accumulated hard evidence, that it is Vice-President Al Gore, not President Clinton, who is guilty of the precise impeachable offences that the Framers of our Constitution considered in Article 2, Section 4: treason, bribery, and other high crimes and misdemeanors, and who should be removed from office.

It is Al Gore who has been working, exceeding his authority as Vice-President, behind the back of the President, in the interests of certain private Wall Street and other international financiers, to bail them out at the direct expense to U.S. foreign policy, particularly relations between the U.S. and Russia. These financiers are in turn major contributors to Gore.

While the President and Treasury Secretary Rubin have identified the hedge funds, and the commercial banks that are indiscriminately pouring money into these hedge funds for highly leveraged bets, as a national security threat, Al Gore has been acting as an instrument of that national security threat – an impeachable offence.

Other subjects touched on in the program, are: the most recent eruption of the global financial crisis, this time in Brasil; the possibility of regional nuclear exchanges in the Balkans, Middle East, and Korean peninsula, igniting global nuclear war.

While almost everyone is absorbed with the horror show known as the impeachment trial of the President, the global financial crisis is wiping out entire nations. In the first part of this week’s edition of The LaRouche Connection, taped January 27, guest host Nancy Spannaus discusses with Dennis Small, the Ibero-American Editor for EIR magazine, that financial crisis, which is the motivating force for the world oligarchy’s attempt to destabilize the United States Government, and prevent a solution from coming to the fore. Spannaus and Small discus the international fight over financial policy--with the ideas of Lyndon LaRouche in the center--especially focusing on the strategic moves being taken by Brasil, Russia, and Malaysia to save their nations. A short video clip from the Jan. 20 testimony of Federal Reserve Chairman, Alan Greenspan, to a hearing of House Committee on Ways & Means on the Outlook of the U.S. Economy, is included in this segment.

In the second part of the program, Mrs. Spannaus is joined by her husband Edward Spannaus, Law Editor for EIR, to discuss the political lynching of the President, and the implications of that for the world strategic situation. Included in this segment is a short video clip from the Jan. 22 edition of C-SPAN's Washington Journal, in which Emmett Tyrell, Editor-in-Chief of American Spectator magazine, which has been leading the attack against President Clinton, endorses Al Gore for President.

In the final segment, Edward Spannaus interviews special guest John Hurley, President of the Confederate Memorial Association, for a unique insight into the role of a new Confederate insurgency in carrying out the lynching of our President. Included in this segment are some video clips from the Jan. 23 wreath-laying ceremony at Statuary Hall in the Capitol, to commemorate the birth of Robert E. Lee.

EIR Talks: February 3, 1999

At the just concluded annual meeting of the World Economic Forum (WEF) in Davos, Switzerland, German President Herzog proclaimed the end of the nation-state, in his Brave New World of  “globalization.” A discussion paper circulated by WEF director, David Morrison, concluded that there is nothing that national economies can do to protect themselves from the growing “turbulence” in the markets, as a result of globalization, and that proposals for “reshaping the foreign exchange markets, following the example of the Bretton Woods System of fixed exchange rates, or a tax on short-term capital transfers,” is “impracticable.”

In this week’s edition of The LaRouche Connection public access cable TV program, taped Feb. 3, guest host Jeffrey Steinberg discusses with Nancy Spannaus, Editor-in-Chief of The New Federalist newspaper, and Marcia Merry Baker, Economics and Agriculture Editor for EIR magazine, this direct attempt to counter the proposals of Lyndon LaRouche for a New Bretton Woods monetary system, capital and exchange controls, and a tax on the derivatives markets--measures needed to avert a global economic breakdown.

Other topics covered: LaRouche’s call for imposition of currency and capital controls in Brasil; new evidence to impeach Vice-President Al Gore; conflicting signals from the Clinton Administration regarding shipments of agricultural products to Russia; a Special Forces ground invasion of Iraq in the works; and Independent Counsel Kenneth Starr’s public threat to indict the President on criminal charges before he leaves office, `”leaked” in the Jan. 31 The New York Times.

What it Takes to be a World Historical Leader Today

Before more than 700 representatives of the LaRouche political movement on Feb. 14, Helga Zepp LaRouche, President of the Schiller Institute, addressed the strategic situation facing Americans following the impeachment defeat, taking up the questions of Justice and Leadership from the works of the Greek philosopher Plato.

Particularly exciting was her presentation of the work of the German Jew Moses Mendelssohn, who advanced the Platonic ideas in education and culture, showing him to be an outstanding example of a world-historical individual, providing a model for what not only every member of a suppressed minority group can do, but other individuals concerned with advancing civilization as a whole.

Mrs. LaRouche challenged the group to organize 100 town meetings, by Easter, to demand President Clinton take up here husband Lyndon LaRouche’s solution to the global financial and strategic crisis, and dump Vice-President Al Gore.

The LaRouche Connection public access cable television program has made available this important presentation, edited to one hour.

EIR Talks: February 24, 1999

No sooner did the impeachment trial of President Clinton end in acquittal, than the London-backed forces committed to destroying both his Presidency and the Nation, lashed out again with renewed fury. In the pasts 12 months, while Clinton has been virtually paralyzed by the assault against him, Vice-President Al Gore and his so-called “Principles Committee” have seized control over policymaking.

In this week’s edition of The LaRouche Connection public access cable TV program, taped Feb. 24, host Tony Papert and EIR Counterintelligence Director Jeffrey Steinberg expose the treasonous role of Vice President Gore and his Principals Committee, in heading the country down what may be a short path to nuclear war, as British-inspired instabilities threaten to spread out of control in the Middle East, Asia, and Eastern Europe.

Included in this segment is a short excerpt from Health and Human Services Secretary, Donna Shalala’s remarks on bio-terrorism, from a recent conference sponsored by the Potomac Institute and Johns Hopkins University.

Papert and Steinberg then present the alternative, in the form of a campaign statement, entitled “The Road to Recovery,” issued by Lyndon LaRouche, candidate for the Democratic Party’s Presidential nomination in 2000.

Included in this segment are remarks by Lyndon LaRouche made Feb. 13 in answer to a question posed during a conference sponsored by the Schiller Institute, in which LaRouche defines the concept of the “nation-state,” the responsibility of the state to the individual, and the responsibility of the individual to participate in the well-being of the nation and its posterity.

The Al Gore Danger

Beginning January-February 1998, as President Clinton became increasingly tied up defending himself against impeachment, Vice-President Al Gore assumed more and more control over policy. So much so, that former Clinton campaign advisor, Richard Morris, writing in the Capitol Hill newspaper, says Mr. More is functioning today as an acting President.

Many people have the dangerous illusion that Mr. Gore has locked in the Democratic Party’s presidential nomination for the year 2000. Yet, it is also widely felt, that Al Gore is unelectable. What’s the story?

In a special edition of The LaRouche Connection public access cable TV show, taped March 3, 1999, host Tony Papert, and guest Jeffrey Steinberg, counterintelligence editor for EIR magazine, profile the Vice-President: Is Gore electable? Who’s behind Gore, and what do they want? What is the Gore philosophy? What’s Gore up to now?

Featured in the program are extensive excerpts from a February 13 presentation on the Vice-President by Mr. Steinberg to a conference of the Schiller Institute.

Cambodia: Peace Through Reconstruction

For the first time in 30 years, the Cambodian government is in control of the national territory. The Khmer Rouge political and military organization has come to an end.

On January 18, Gail Billington, who covers southeast Asia for EIR magazine, traveled to Phnom Penh to interview the Prime Minister, Samdech Hun Sen, who discusses the problems of reconciliation and reconstruction, the ways in which the United States could help in this process, and his vision for the future.

The big question now in Cambodia is that of some sort of war crimes tribunal for the Khmer Rouge. The Prime Minister strongly believes such a tribunal cannot just deal with the four years of the Khmer Rouge, but has to be situated in the historical context of the five years preceding, with the U.S. bombings, and the 12 years after, during which the U.N. Security Council seated the Khmer Rouge as the legitimate government.

The program also features excerpts from an early February interview with Cambodia’s Ambassador to Washington, His Excellency Var Huoth, who addresses the tribunal issue, and gives his thoughts about Prime Minister Hun Sen.

Included also is an answer to a question posed to Lyndon LaRouche by Mrs. Billington in mid-February at a conference of the Schiller Institute, for his thoughts on a war crimes tribunal for Cambodia. Mr. LaRouche suggested the production of a national White Paper on the entire period, which addresses the overall case, thereby situating the trial responsibility and culpability of individuals and parties for what happened to the country.

The program closes with a reading from Abraham Lincoln’s Second Inaugural Address.

EIR Talks: March 17, 1999

In this week’s edition of The LaRouche Connection public access cable TV program, taped March 17, host Tony Papert and guest Jeffrey Steinberg, Counterintelligence Director for EIR magazine, introduce three new compelling subjects for viewers to consider and act upon:

  • A group of nations, led by China, Russia, and India, termed by Lyndon LaRouche "The Survivors Club," who have put the interests of their people ahead of the demands of the IMF, Wall Street, and London bankers. These countries are not America’s enemies. They are, as President Clinton has said, America’s natural strategic partners, especially once the U.S. wakes up and becomes sane in its economic policy.
  • The immediate and growing danger of war, possibly featuring nuclear weapons. A new NATO doctrine is supposed to be finalized in April, which will fundamentally transform NATO into a body shaped for global interventions, to ultimately fight a war with the Survivors Club.
  • The spy hysteria, which LaRouche has called a "new McCarthyism." Under the pretext of a supposed espionage danger from China, certain people are targeting Clinton loyalists for elimination from the Administration.

In all these areas, we are dealing with the results of the failure to contain the financial crisis in the fall of last year.

Included in the program are three short video clips:

  • A special briefing March 5 by Dennis Halliday, former head of the United Nations Oil-for-Food program in Iraq, at the Center for Policy Analysis on Palestine. Halliday quit in protest over the sanctions policy.
  • Archival footage from a 1953 exchange at the Army Hearings between Sen. Joseph McCarthy and Army Secretary Joe Walsh. This marks the end of McCarthy’s career.
  • An exchange March 5 between Bill Jones, EIR's White House correspondent, and Mr. Yu Shuning, Press Spokesman for the Chinese Embassy in Washington, at a press conference held in response to the U.S. State Department’s recent report on human rights.

Why President Clinton Must Ally the U.S.A.
With the "Survivors Club"

That U.S. and NATO aircraft began bombing Yugoslavia, at approximately the same time as an EIR seminar entitled "Why President Clinton Must Ally the U.S.A. with the "Survivors Club," convened in Washington, D.C. on March 24, brought out the urgency of breaking the President out of the grip of the British-run Principals Committee.

In his presentation to the seminar, Jonathan Tennenbaum, Lyndon LaRouche’s science adviser, who has traveled extensively in China, Russia, and eastern Europe, pointed to a crucial issue at the center of the crisis: U.S. policy toward China, and toward the growing cooperation now emerging among Russia, China, India, and other nations, who are forming what LaRouche has called the "survivors Club," in order to insure the survival and development of their populations, in the face of a process which is otherwise leading to World War III.

The LaRouche Connection public access cable television program is making Mr. Tennenbaum's presentation available, edited to one hour.

Also included in the program is a short excerpt from a March 15 press conference in Beijing, in which Chinese Prime Minister Gen. Zhu Rongji uses the power of truth, history, humility, and especially wit, to puncture the hysteria and lies which are being used to force a confrontation between the U.S. and China.

The Plane That Turned Around

On Tuesday, March 23, Russian Prime Minister Primakov was on his way to Washington for what was to be his first summit meeting with President Clinton, in an attempt to avoid war in Yugoslavia. When only two hours out from Washington, Primakov got a call from Vice President Gore, turned his plane around, and returned to Moscow. NATO began bombing Serbia the very next day.

What happened? Why won't Al Gore let the President meet with Primakov? Are the world’s governments sleepwalking into World War III, just as they did into World War I? What does the new NATO doctrine have to do with this?

In this week’s edition of The LaRouche Connection, taped March 31, host Tony Papert and guest Jeffrey Steinberg, counterintelligence Director for EIR magazine, supply the answers, and what has to be done to stop the slide into global war.

Things to Come

Today, wars rage on virtually every continent. But these are not wars in the sense that governments are mobilizing the citizenry with a clear moral purpose, for which there is no other resort, for a winnable objective. They are wars which go on indefinitely, involve both ultra-modern weaponry, as well as a rock to the skull, or a stick to the back of the head. And not just modern armies are fighting, but neighbor against neighbor, brother against brother. If these wars were to unite into a single conflagration, it would be the kind of World War not seen since the 17th Century--a war of all against all, with no end.

Is there a plan behind all these wars and warfare? In this week’s edition of The LaRouche Connection public access cable TV program, taped April 7, host Tony Papert and guest Nancy Spannaus, Editor-in-Chief of The New Federalist newspaper, expose the role of certain publicists for the British imperialists at the end of the 19th and beginning of the 20th Century, who put forward a plan for reorganizing the world to permit permanent political control by the oligarchy, through mind control, drugs, and culture.

The program focuses especially on H.G. Wells. Clips from the 1936 movie, Things to Come, based on the 1933 book by Wells, entitled The Shape of Things to Come, are used to illustrate the point: the only way to understand the current war process, is to understand that it is being orchestrated, not with finger-tip control, but in broad control of the strategic thinking of policy-makers and of the thinking of most ordinary citizens, by a British-American-Commonwealth faction--the inheritors of H.G. Wells’ (and Bertrand Russell’s) warped ideas.

Other topics covered in the program are:

  • The current evil doings of Zbigniew Brzezinski, teacher of Sec. of State Madeleine Albright.
  • The ongoing genocide in Iraq
  • The summit between Zhu Rongji, the Prime Minister of China, and President Bill Clinton
  • Lyndon LaRouche’s proposal for a New Bretton Woods, which would require convening a conference of sovereign nations, to reorganize the monetary system, eliminate free trade in currencies, and establish long-term credit issuance between nations, based on a development perspective, particularly around developing the heartland of the planet--a Eurasian Land-Bridge--totally in the interest of the U.S., as well as every other major and minor nation of the world.

Bankers’ Arithmetic vs. Human Arithmetic:
Do You Know How to Count?

Today, we face a kind of tectonic change in the world financial system. Nothing works the way it used to. We are witnessing phenomena that have most people totally disoriented. We are facing the kind of power that can level a building, a city, a civilization, in a matter of moments. The economic earthquake that we are now living through, can just as easily unleash mass hysteria in populations, as it can provide the opportunity for a solution

The issue is, how do you measure actual economic success? What is your metric? What are your units? What do you measure, to know if you are succeeding economically or not? How do you know that there can in fact be a common interest between labor and farmers, or between workers in the third World and consumers in the United States?

In his February 14, 1999 presentation to the Presidents’ Day conference of the Schiller Institute, EIR magazine’s Ibero-American Editor, Dennis Small, addressed the science of defining the Common Good and the General Welfare--from two metrics: ``bankers arithmetic,"-- which is one way of counting, and ``human arithmetic." Which way do you count?

The LaRouche Connection public access cable television program is making available Mr. Small's presentation, edited to one hour.

The LaRouche Doctrine

Today, the world seems set on a fast track toward World War III. Such a war doesn’t just mean thermonuclear exchange between the U.S. and Russia, although that will probably happen. Most countries will become involved. Weapons will range from nuclear to knives, from bombs to axes and rocks. It will not just be country against country, but ethnic group against group, village against village, family against family, and brother against brother. It will be a war only comparable to the 1618-48 Thirty Years War in Central Europe. A war of this sort will snuff out civilization and plunge the planet into the darkness of barbarism.

How to stop this madness?

Since 1945, each time our nation chose a new policy disaster, Lyndon LaRouche pointed this out and showed an alternative. Each time, those alternatives have been rejected by an establishment which thought it knew better. But they were wrong.

In this week’s special edition of The LaRouche Connection public access cable TV program, taped April 21,1999 host Tony Papert and guests Nancy Spannaus, Editor-in-Chief of The New Federalist newspaper, and Jeffrey Steinberg, Counterintelligence Director for EIR magazine, present the case why support for "The LaRouche Doctrine" now may be our last chance to avoid descent into World War III.

Included in the program are clips from these videotapes:

  • "Walter Mondale & the Threat of Fascism in West Germany" [1984]
  • "The Eurasian Landbridge" [from an EIR Development Conference, Washington, DC. May 1977]
  • "The Great Mudslide of 1991" [from "The Man George Bush Fears the Most." 1992]
  • "The Triple Curve," [from Lyndon LaRouche’s keynote "The Coming Pearl Harbor Effect." Schiller Institute Labor Day Conference. Aug. 31, 1997]
  • "The New Bretton Woods" [from an EIR seminar. March 18, 1998]

Tony Blair is Caught Lying:
The Real Story of the NATO Summit

British officials--especially Foreign Minister Robin Cook and NATO spokesman Jamie Shea--were repeatedly caught lying throughout the recent NATO summit (April 23-25) in Washington, DC. They all stated, falsely, that President Clinton had agreed with British Prime Minister Tony Blair’s proposals for the introduction of ground forces into Kosova.

In this week’s edition of The LaRouche Connection public access cable TV program, taped April 28, host Tony Papert is joined by EIR Counterintelligence Director Jeffrey Steinberg, EIR Law Editor Edward Spannaus, and EIR analyst Michele Steinberg. All three were at the summit, and played a crucial role in exposing these British lies, and in revealing the deep disagreements between the U.S. and Britain on the Balkans war.

Included in the program are various video clips, from events relating to the NATO summit:

  • April 25, 11:00 a.m.: A press conference at the Ronald Reagan Center, with British Foreign Secretary Robin Cook, British Defense Secretary George Robertson, and Chief-of-Staff of the British military Sir Gen. Guthrie. An exchange between a Washington Times reporter and one of the Brits; and between Jeffrey Steinberg and Robertson and Cook.
  • April 25, 11:00 a.m.: Same press conference. An exchange between EIR White House correspondent Bill Jones, and British Foreign Minister Robin Cook.
  • Apr.23, late afternoon.: White House Briefing. Exchange between Edward Spannaus, & Joe Lockhart.
  • April 23, morning NATO briefing: An exchange between ABC reporter Martha Raditz, and NATO spokesman Jamie Shay.
  • April 23, afternoon: A statement by National Security Advisor Sandy Berger.
  • April 25: On-location reports filed by Michele Steinberg and Jeffrey Steinberg.
  • April 25: Democratic Leadership Council press conference: Statements by German Chancellor Gerhard Schroeder, Italian Prime Minister Massimo D'Alema, and Bill Clinton.

The program closes with an excerpt from Lyndon LaRouche’s keynote address to a high-level EIR seminar held in Bonn, Germany on April 21, in which he presented his "New Bretton Woods" solution to the strategic and financial crisis now leading the world into war.

Bonn Forum: a Dialog on Solving the World Crisis

On April 21, in Bonn/Bad Godesberg, Germany, Executive Intelligence Review sponsored a seminar entitled "The Way Out of the Crisis: Europe, the World Financial Crisis, and the ‘New Cold War’." More than 150 diplomats, economists, media representatives, parliamentarians, and businessmen from 20 nations convened to hear and discuss presentations on current economic and strategic policy, by notables, including:

  • Lyndon LaRouche, U.S. presidential pre-candidate
  • Wilhelm Hankel, Prof. of Economics at Frankfurt University, and former board member at the German Bank for Reconstruction (1960s), and former President of the Hessische Landesbank
  • Prof. Stanislav Menshikov, member of the Russian Academy of Sciences, and Director of Research of the Central Mathematical Economics Institute (CEMI) in Moscow
  • Helga Zepp LaRouche, founder of the Schiller Institute
  • Devendra Kaushik, Professor of Central Asian Studies at the School for International Studies, Jawaharlal Nehru University, in New Delhi, and Chairman of the Maulana-Adsat Institute for Asian Studies, in Calcutta
  • Prof. Qian Jing, member of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, Beijing

This week’s program presents excerpts from Mr. LaRouche’s keynote, entitled "The alternative to financial crisis and a Third World War," followed by Prof. Qian Jing, who surprised the audience by noting that China’s preparations to combat the Asian financial crisis were in part based on studying--and heading--the warnings of Mr. LaRouche. Mr. Jing's presentation was entitled "Toward a Just World Order: a Chinese View."

Myth and Reality in the U.S. Economic Recovery

On May 5, an audience of some 150 high-level diplomatic and elected officials, trade union leaders, local ministers, community organizers, as well as several international media, attended an Executive Intelligence Review (EIR) seminar in Washington, DC, entitled, "After the NATO summit, What Next? The Post-Balkan War Perspective."

This week’s LaRouche Connection features the presentation of EIR Economics writer, Richard Freeman. Mr. Freeman uses a series of graphs and charts to show that behind the current so-called U.S. prosperity, and wild joyride of the Dow Jones and other financial indices, is the grim reality of a nation in decline for more than 30 years.

In his presentation, Mr. Freeman focuses on three main points:

  • To take apart the dangerous myth that the U.S. is in its 9th year of recovery.
  • To show that the violation of economic human rights in the U.S. has risen to such an extent, that more citizens will die of the worsening economic sicknesses, than from heart disease and cancer.
  • To locate this physical economic breakdown within a worldwide economic disintegration.

China Embassy Bombing was Deliberate

On May 7, the Chinese Embassy in Belgrade was hit by several precision-guided bombs, dropped by a NATO aircraft, killing three and injuring numerous others. Within hours of the attack, Lyndon LaRouche stated this was not an "accident," or "mistake," or "anomaly," but a deliberate act, and that those responsible must immediately be court-martialed.

In this week’s edition of The LaRouche Connection, taped May 19, host Tony Papert, The New Federalist newspaper editor-in-chief Nancy Spannaus, and EIR analyst Michele Steinberg lay out the evidence that the bombing was anything but an "accident," dissect the cover-up, and demonstrate that the strategic objective was a premeditated effort by a British-centered grouping within the NATO command, to wreck the prospects for peace in the Balkans, and broader cooperation for economic development between the U.S. and Russia, China, India, and several European countries.

The need for an emergency reconstruction effort for the entire Balkan region, as proposed by LaRouche, was also discussed.

The LaRouche Plan for Balkan Reconstruction

While President Clinton has thus far resisted pressure from Her Majesty’s Blair government in Britain to escalate the war in the Balkans, and has instead enunciated a commitment to a post-war reconstruction program, the outcome of the battle over policy remains in doubt.

The LaRouche movement is now in a full mobilization for Democratic Presidential pre-candidate Lyndon LaRouche’s program for peace: a Balkans reconstruction plan and the creation of a new world monetary system.

In this week’s edition of The LaRouche Connection, taped May 26, host Tony Papert, EIR magazine’s counterintelligence editor Jeffrey Steinberg, and EIR Economics editor Marcia Merry Baker present LaRouche’s call for a new "Marshall Plan."

The first segment of the program features an excerpt from a speech delivered May 5 in Washington, DC by Helga Zepp LaRouche, chairman of the Schiller Institute, in which she discusses the 1648 Peace of Westphalia, which ended thirty years of religious warfare in Europe, as a precedent for new institutions, new international law, and a new order for peace and development.

Mr. Steinberg then discusses the new possibilities for peace in the Middle east, as a result of the election of Ehud Barak as Israel’s new Prime Minister.

In the final segment, Mrs. Baker lays out the details of LaRouche’s plan for Balkan reconstruction.

Al Gore and the Cox Report

On May 25, at a Capitol Hill press conference, the Cox Committee, formally known as the House Select Committee on U.S. National Security and Military/commercial Concerns with the Peoples Republic of China, released a 700-page declassified version of their report, charging that the P.R.C. had stolen design information on two U.S. nuclear warheads, and had stolen technical information on five other U.S. warheads.

In this week’s special edition of The LaRouche Connection, taped June 2, host Tony Papert, The New Federalist newspaper editor-in-chief Nancy Spannaus, EIR counterintelligence director Jeffrey Steinberg, and scientific advisor to EIR Dr. Jonathan Tennenbaum (by phone from Wiesbaden, Germany) demonstrate the report to be a scientifically illiterate hoax, run by the Vice-President through his man in the House Norman Dicks (D-WA), as a means of trashing the President’s China policy.

Included in the program are the following short video clips:

  • Rep. Porter Goss (R-FL): Chm., House Intelligence Oversight Committee, member of the Cox Commission, and a former CIA operations officer, lavishing praise on Norm Dicks. [from May 25 Press Conf.]
  • John M. Spratt, Jr. (D-SC): Member, House Committee on National Security and China, objecting to the scientific incompetence of the Report, and that no one from the national weapons labs were called to testify as expert witnesses. [from the May 25 Press Conf.]
  • Li Zhaoxing: Chinese Ambassador to the U.S.: "Some people might fool around some people for some of the time, but they will not fool around all the people all the time." [from a May 28 Press Conference at the National Press Club]

The Urgency of Real Balkan Reconstruction

Speaking at the National Press Club in Washington, DC on June 2, Lyndon LaRouche’s Presidential campaign spokeswoman Dr. Debra Freeman presented the Democratic candidate’s plan for emergency reconstruction of the Balkans.

"Lasting peace," said Freeman, "can only be secured if the U.S. allies with Russia, China, and the continental Europeans on an economic program which overcomes the underlying cause of the Kosova war, which is the British drive to expand NATO and violate the sovereignty of all nations."

The LaRouche Connection has made available this important press conference for a wider audience.

Introducing the footage of the press conference, is host Tony Papert, joined in the studio on June 9 by EIR counterintelligence editor Jeffrey Steinberg.

Papert and Steinberg also briefly preview a major policy paper by Lyndon LaRouche, entitled "Balkan Peace and World Economy: the Case for a ‘New Marshall Plan’," in which LaRouche says that the question of whether or not the world goes into a deep and prolonged recession, will likely be decided by the approach that’s taken to reconstruct the Balkans and Southeastern Europe.

Off With Their Heads: The British Monarchy
Plays the Terrorism Card

As the world heads toward Fall 1999, a new ratchet of financial crisis is approaching. As in Fall 1998, it involves the danger of a Russian default and the collapse of hedge funds, possibly bringing down the whole system. This time, one target is the Wall Street stock market.

The British forced a war in Yugoslavia in March, to try to contain the financial crisis through war. But President Clinton and the Russian government managed to end the shooting in a way which the British didn't expect. Now, there’s a worldwide fight on Balkan reconstruction. Real reconstruction in the Balkans would pave the way for a new, sound monetary system that would end the special power enjoyed by the British monarchy and the City of London.

In this edition of The LaRouche Connection, The taped June 16, host Tony Papert is joined by EIR counterintelligence director Jeffrey Steinberg, who discusses the new terror wave; and EIR economic writer John Hoefle, who discusses the financial scrape-with-death last Fall, and what’s happening now.

Balkan Reconstruction: The LaRouche Alternative
To Global Catastrophe

For Southeastern Europe, will there be a serious reconstruction plan to usher in an era of peace through development? Or will poverty and desperation sow the seeds for unending violence, regional wars and even nuclear war with an equally impoverished and enraged Russia?

On June 23, EIR magazine sponsored a press conference in Washington, entitled "Balkan Reconstruction: the LaRouche Alternative to Global Catastrophe."

This week’s edition of The LaRouche Connection features the presentations of EIR’s Southeastern European affairs specialist, Paulo Raimondi; Panamanian Congressman Miguel Bush; Pennsylvania State Rep. Harold James; and Michigan State Rep. Ed Vaughn. A powerful statement by Faris Nanic, Secretary-General of Bosnia’s Democratic Action Party in Croatia, and former Chief of Staff for President Izetbegovic of Bosnia-Hercegovina, was read by Debra Freeman, national spokesman for Lyndon LaRouche’s Presidential campaign committee.

Balkan Reconstruction and How to Finance It

With the United Nations Security Council resolution ending NATO's bombing in the Balkans, there is only one issue on the agenda: will there be a serious reconstruction plan to usher in an era of peace through development, or will the pre-war status quo of poverty and desperation return, leading to more death and destruction?

On June 23 EIR magazine sponsored a policy seminar in Washington, DC, which presented the LaRouche program for Balkan reconstruction and how to finance it, in contrast to the phony designed-to-fail programs being put forward by the IMF, World Bank, and European Union.

This week’s edition of The LaRouche Connection features excerpts from the presentations of Dr. Debra Freeman, national spokesman for Lyndon LaRouche’s presidential campaign committee; and (by phone from his home in Bosnia) Faris Nanic, Secretary-General of Bosnia’s Party of Democratic Action in Croatia and former Chief of President Alija Izetbegovic of Bosnia-Hercegovina.

Also included are two exchanges during the Question and Answer period: the response of Paolo Raimondi, EIR specialist in Southeastern European affairs, to a question on disarming Milosevic; and the response of Panamanian Congressman Miguel Bush to a question about compensation to Black Panamanians killed in the U.S. invasion of Panama.

EIR Talks: July 14, 1999

This week’s edition of The LaRouche Connection opens with a video excerpt from testimony given Oct. 1, 1998 by Federal Reserve Board Chairman, Alan Greenspan, before the House Banking and Finance Committee, explaining, in his own peculiar way, that had the Fed not bailed out a speculative hedge fund called Long term Capital Management on Sept. 23, 1998, to the tune of $3.8 billion, the entire world financial system would have collapsed.

Joining Host Tony Papert in the studio on July 14, are Richard Freeman, economics writer for EIR magazine, and Jeffrey Steinberg, EIR’s director of counterintelligence.

Mr. Freeman reveals for the first time on TV, that from June 11-30, 1999, an even bigger bailout--this time $25 billion--took place, this of Julian Robertson’s Tiger Management fund, based in Curacao, Netherlands Antilles, where George Siros’s Quantum Fund is also based.

Mr. Steinberg then discusses the significance of the recent vast military exercises conducted by Russia, the largest since the Soviet period; and the election of Israel’s new Prime Minister, Ehud Barak, as a moment of great opportunity for peace in the Middle East.

Reached by phone in Bogota, Maximiliano Londono, the President of the Ibero-American Solidarity Movement of Colombia (MSIA), next reports that the virtual alliance of the U.S. State Dept. and the FARC--which has just launched a very big offensive--has resulted in the narco-terrorist group controlling an area the size of Switzerland.

The concluding segment of the program continues the focus on Colombia, where the President of the New York Stock Exchange, Richard Grasso, met on June 26 with the leaders of the FARC; and the efforts by the International Monetary Fund to get Colombia to include illegal activities, such as prostitution and drugs, in the measurement of the size of its economy.

Included in this segment: a video excerpt from a June 29 press conference in New York City, given by Mr. Grasso, on his meeting with the FARC leadership in Colombia, and his invitation to them to tour the stock exchange in New York.

Also in this segment: an excerpt from a June 29 EIR interview with Francisco Baker, Western Hemisphere division press officer for the International Monetary Fund, who confirms that the IMF pressured Colombia to include illegal crops in its national accounting statistics.

Bankers Thieve Gold as Africa Dies

On May 7, the price of gold was $289.25 per troy ounce. On the same day, United Kingdom Chancellor of the Exchequer Gordon Brown announced that the Bank of England would sell, over the next few years, 415 of the 700 tons of gold it held in reserve. The first 25 tons were sold on July 6. Between May 7 and July 6, the price of gold fell to $257.30 an ounce. Bank of England head Sir Eddie George, acting on order of the British Monarchy, arranged this series of private auctions of gold, but only to members of the London Bullion Marketers’ Association, thus siphoning off Bank of England gold into private hands.

In this week’s edition of The LaRouche Connection, taped July 21, host Tony Papert is joined by EIR magazine economics writer Richard Freeman, who discusses the privatization of gold--a classic "skim and park" theft operation--as evidence of the oligarchy’s maneuvering to consolidate its hold on precious metals, food, and other commodities, in an effort to retain its political power upon the now imminent crash of the financial and monetary system.

Linda deHoyos, Africa editor for EIR, next reviews the situation for Africa: enforced austerity as a condition of IMF-dictated structural reforms, deteriorating terms of trade, increasing debt service--all resulting in breakdowns of the national economies, depleting the physical well-being of their populations, while private armies secure the oligarchy’s grab for the vast mineral wealth of the continent.

Who is Al Gore?

Completely contrary to what the public is permitted to know from the newspapers, TV, and radio, the impeachment proceedings against President Clinton represented a British-driven parliamentary coup d’Etat. Had President Clinton been removed from office, and Al Gore become President, nuclear war was not only possible, it was likely.

The LaRouche Connection this week features the presentation of LaRouche’s U.S. spokesman Dr. Debra Freeman at an emergency town meeting in Baltimore, Jan. 5, 1999—one of dozens of such meetings held throughout the country during the impeachment proceedings, to inform the public about the gravest danger faced by our nation since its founding, and to mobilize popular support for the Presidency.

Death Threat Against Presidential Candidate LaRouche
or
Off With His Head!

In 1978, Lyndon LaRouche commissioned a book-length report on the international illegal narcotics trade, Dope, Inc. The book was subtitled Britain’s Opium War Against the U.S. On Aug. 5, 1999, Take A Break, a British magazine catering to women’s issues (circulation 1.4 million) ran a Page One slander on Mr. LaRouche entitled "Shut This Man’s Mouth,” which violently attacked the Democratic Presidential pre-candidate, for supposedly "seriously discrediting" the "carefully nurtured reputation" of Queen Elizabeth II.

In this week’s edition of The LaRouche Connection, taped Aug. 10, host Tony Papert, EIR magazine’s director of counterintelligence Jeffrey Steinberg, and LaRouche national campaign spokesman Dr. Debra Freeman discuss the charges made against LaRouche, why the Queen of England views LaRouche as a major threat to her reputation throughout the world, and why his campaign views this article as a death threat.

The five charges made against LaRouche are:

  1. LaRouche says the Queen pushes dope.

Included here are various video clips from LaRouche’s 1980 Presidential campaign run.

  1. LaRouche says Princess Diana’s death was murder, carried out by British secret intelligence agencies.

Included here is a clip from an appearance by Jeffrey Steinberg on British Independent Television (ITV) in June 1998.

  1. LaRouche says Queen Elizabeth killed President John F. Kennedy.

Included here is a clip from JFK's speech of Sept. 12, 1962 at Rice University in Texas, in which he committed the nation to send a man to the Moon by the end of the decade.

  1. LaRouche says that the British monarchy is responsible for the assassination attempt on Pope John-Paul II.

  2. LaRouche says that Prince Philip wants to reduce the world’s population by half.

Is World War III Coming?

To the average Joe, seated before the boob tube, nothing could seem more remote than the prospect of World War III. For better informed Americans, and especially Europeans, its not at all that way.

In this week’s edition of The LaRouche Connection, taped August 18, host Tony Papert is joined in the studio by Nancy Spannaus, editor-in-chief of The New Federalist newspaper, to discuss a widely circulated Aug. 12 memorandum by Democratic Presidential candidate Lyndon LaRouche, entitled "Is World War III Coming?"

From the beginning of this year, Mr. LaRouche has drawn attention to the concerns of the British oligarchy in particular, to control the world geopolitical situation after a financial crash which they believe is inevitable, and is in fact inevitable. Their concern has driven them to create confrontations, against Russia, but also against other countries in the Far East, which are leading, maybe without their intention, to a military conflict in the direction of thermonuclear war.

Reached by phone, EIR magazine’s Washington, DC military affairs correspondent, Carl Osgood relates some shocking facts concerning the hollowed-out nature of the U.S. military. And when you put this together with the weakness of the Russian military, we’re looking at a looming possible war situation between parties, neither of whom can fight a "conventional" war, and for whom the turn to nuclear arsenals comes quickly as a last resort.

Democrat LaRouche Files for Matching Funds

On the morning of August 18, the political campaign committee for Democrat Lyndon LaRouche filed a request with the Federal Election Commission for federal matching funds. In order to qualify, a candidate must raise $5,000 in contributions not larger than $250 from 20 States. The Committee for New Bretton Woods went way over that, by filing documentation for $387,000, raised from 3,200 contributors in 25 States. Only five other Republican and Democratic candidates have qualified, one of whom has since withdrawn from the race for the Presidency.

Prior to the filing, the Federal Election Commission had already recognized Mr. LaRouche as the third major candidate on the Democratic side. So far LaRouche’s campaign has raised a total of over one million dollars.

This week’s edition of The LaRouche Connection features an August 18 press conference announcing the filing, at the National Press Club in Washington, DC, conducted by LaRouche’s national spokeswoman Debra Hannania Freeman.

Also included in the program are some excerpts from a presentation by The New Federalist’s Editor-in-Chief, Nancy Spannaus at an August 20 campaign event held at a Capitol Hill Chinese restaurant.

Colombia & the U.S. Can Jointly Defeat Narco-Terrorism

Gen. Bedoya was in Washington for a week of meetings with Congressmen and others on the urgency of the situation in Colombia, and to urge an alliance between Colombia and the U.S. to defeat the narco-terrorists.

Gen. Bedoya called for a Marshall Plan for development of Colombia, specifically without any conditionalities or involvement of the International Monetary Fund (IMF). He attacked Richard Grasso, President of the New York Stock Exchange, for visiting the FARC drug cartel at one of their jungle laboratories, and for Grasso’s proposed collaboration with them.

Gen. Bedoya spoke in Spanish. Consecutive translation into English was provided by Dennis Small, director for Ibero-American intelligence for EIR magazine.

The Eurasian Land-Bridge as a Global Strategy Today

Helga Zepp LaRouche, founder of the Schiller Institute, opened the second day of the organization’s semi-annual conference over the Labor Day weekend, with a keynote entitled "The Eurasian Land-Bridge as a Global Strategy for Today."

Her presentation flowed from a polemic on the often willful ignorance of Americans about the role of the U.S. in the world, and about strategic realities internationally, coining the phrase "the continent of the clueless."

Mrs. LaRouche discussed the development of strategic dangers facing the world today, beginning 1986, when her husband, the intellectual author of the SDI, came under deadly assault, to the current time. As a result of the domination of the Zbigniew Brzezinski-style geopolitical crowd during this period, the world now faces certain crises--the Transcaucasus, the Indian subcontinent, and the Taiwan Straits -- which could lead into world war, especially in the context of the collapse of the world financial system, she said.

Mrs. LaRouche then reviewed the way in which the Eurasian Land-Bridge perspective provides the unique alternative to war.

Faris Nanic on Balkan Reconstruction

Speaking on Sept. 29 to a seminar in Washington, DC sponsored by EIR magazine, Faris Nanic, Secretary General in Croatia of the Party of Democratic Action (SDA) and former chief of Staff of President Alija Izetbegovic of Bosnia-Herzegovina, called on the United States to adopt Lyndon LaRouche’s economic development policies without delay, as the only basis for real reconstruction of the war-ravaged Balkan nations.

Mr. Nanic is a co-initiator, together with Schiller Institute founder Helga Zepp LaRouche, of an international call for "Peace through Development for the Balkans," which was drafted for worldwide endorsement during NATO's bombardment of Serbia last spring.

The statement calls for the following measures:

  • a "Marshall Plan" for the Balkan region;
  • an approach to reform of the world monetary and financial system, by creating an architecture of the "New Bretton Woods," with no delay (including fixed exchange rates, protection of national economies, and sovereign credit generation for economic development);
  • an urgent and sharp break with the IMF and World Bank practice of imposing austerity measures and unacceptable financial conditionalities on sovereign nations;
  • debt moratoria for the economies of the region, which have been ruined by war and enforced shock therapy;
  • use of the model of the Kreditanstalt fuer Wiederaufbau during the post World War II period reconstruction of Germany;
  • joining the initiative for launching the project of the Eurasian Landbridge, as a spine of Eurasian development in cooperation with all interested nations;
  • inclusion of all Balkan and Southeastern European states into the Landbridge project.

The Schiller Institute and EIR had invited Mr. Nanic to the United States to address this issue, because of the increasingly desperate plight of the Balkan nations, which can only be solved by American leadership in implementing these measures--before the winter brings even greater hardship and death.

To Deal With This Problem, You Need a Renaissance

Speaking to an audience from all over Europe, at the Civil Rights Movement Solidarity party congress in Mainz, Germany on October 17, Lyndon LaRouche stated that the world is now going through a period of fundamental change, the outcome whether it will be a better world, or a dark age, not yet decided. Some quotations from his presentation follow:

"We’re at a point in history when, because society has chosen trends in policy-making which doomed it to make the wrong policy decisions, we’re living in a system which doesn’t work, because the very basis for a successful survivable economy has been destroyed by policy."

"Deprived of a sense of alternative, perceiving assured disaster, populations become extremely pessimistic and even self-destructive. They become enraged, like madmen, out of their own frustration and fears."

"The problem is, they cling to the belief that certain definitions, axioms, and postulates underlying their habitual opinions, are true. They insist on being governed by popular opinion, rather than a search for what is true."

"Truthfulness is to know how to be truthful, and to take personal individual responsibility for thinking and acting in a truthful way on all practical and related questions before you. That is the standpoint of the true citizen."

"We’ve come to a point in history, where people know that what they believe doesn’t work. We have today governments and parties whose policies are destructive, but people keep on supporting them. How to get out of the trap?"

"The solution lies in rediscovering the Classical idea of Man, as absolutely distinguished above the animal, by being made in the image of the Creator of the universe, and that Man, by his nature, is inherently good."

"The ability of the human mind to produce discoveries of ideas which have the quality of universal validatable principles by which man increases Man’s power in the universe, is the efficient definition of Truth."

"This definition of Truth, as expressed in a loving regard for all humanity because of Man’s special nature, this respect for Truth, is the quality of Goodness inherent in each individual."

"The only way to deal with the problem, therefore, is as was done before: have a Renaissance, which means going back to the Classical idea, in which we treat every individual as born good, by using methods of Classical education: challenge people on their false beliefs, inspire them to recognize within themselves the quality of cognition called agape by Plato and the Apostle Paul, and thus make them happy, impelling them to realize they have something within them which is beautiful , and evoking within them those emotional qualities which are goodness, giving them the strength and motivation to acquire real knowledge as opposed to mere learning."

"That’s how you make a revolution, and that’s what we need right now."

Real Economics vs. Virtual Reality, Part 1-A

Lyndon LaRouche, in his keynote address to the Labor Day conference of the Schiller Institute on Sept. 4, 1999, laid out the reasons that the world’s financial system is presently in the final phase of disintegration, a collapse set into motion in August 1971, when President Nixon took the dollar off the gold-reserve standard. "That year," LaRouche said, "was the point at which Hell began to break loose."

Proceeding from the conceptual standpoint provided by LaRouche, Executive Intelligence Review magazine’s economics staff presented a panel on "Real Economics vs. Virtual Reality." In it, they documented how the present crisis--whose very existence, to this day, many people will not admit!--came about.

The LaRouche Connection presents this panel in two parts.

Part I consists of the presentation by Richard Freeman, who discusses what makes for a real economic recovery. He focused his remarks on the machine-tool principle.

Mr. Freeman then gave a short report on Malaysia, on the occasion of the first anniversary of the national interest, protectionist controls on speculative activity imposed by that government on Sept. 1, 1988, against the wishes of the International Monetary Fund, and "free traders."

Part I ends with several exchanges during the Question & Answer period.

Part II begins with John Hoefle, reporting on how "great" the financial world looks from the vantage point of "virtual reality," demonstrating the insanity of viewing the spread of financial cancer, as economic "growth."

Next Marcia Merry Baker, Economics Editor, using a series of photos and graphs, demonstrated the economic decline of the U.S. economy, by looking at a U.S. farm county and a factory town in the 1960s, compared to the situation today.

LaRouche Addresses New York Town Hall Meeting

On Dec. 7, 1941, that which most Americans believed must not and could not happen, happened: the Japanese attacked Pearl Harbor. A fundamental change swept through the country.

Today, we are again on the verge of such a mass emotional-psychological-political experience, as the world’s financial system approaches total collapse.

Addressing a New York audience on Dec. 4, Democratic Presidential pre-candidate Lyndon LaRouche said that at such a moment, it is possible to do the "impossible," to suddenly reawaken in people the power to think, to suddenly think and talk about serious issues, and act on them in a serious way. And, in so doing, win back this nation, and save it from self-destruction.
