LaRouche: Israel Is Committing Sykes-Picot National Suicide

Jan. 14, 2009 (EIRNS)—This release was issued today by the Lyndon LaRouche Political Action Committee (LPAC).

"It appears that, out of a combination of stupidity and outside manipulation, the Israeli government has made a strategic blunder, in invading Gaza. This blunder may prove fatal," Lyndon LaRouche warned today, after being updated on the ongoing Israeli invasion of Gaza.

LaRouche characterized the Israeli action as a "Sykes-Picot trap, that could trigger a new Hundred Years War of religious and quasi-religious conflict throughout Southwest Asia, and beyond." LaRouche observed that the impact of the Israeli invasion of Gaza has already been felt, with the poisoning of the prospect for a Syria-Lebanon-Israel peace agreement. "The impact will be felt in South Asia, where the fragile situation between India, Pakistan, and Afghanistan has been shaken by the Israeli brutality against the Palestinians." LaRouche added, "You cannot conduct a policy of brutal destruction of the very fabric of civil society, as Israel has conducted in the Gaza Strip over the past two weeks, without fundamentally altering the entire dynamic of the global situation."

"But the greatest impact, over time, will be felt inside Israel itself. Israel has been manipulated into playing the role of pawn in the century-old Sykes-Picot imperial game," LaRouche warned. "This has got to stop right now. Israel has provided the British with an excuse for a genocidal religious war. Israel is destroying itself for the amusement of its enemies."
