Renewables Policy Doubling Electricity Prices in Germany

July 1, 2021 (EIRNS)—Handelsblatt, a German business daily, calls attention to the fact that electricity bills for German industrial companies have doubled since March 2020 to June 2021, from €35/MW-hour to €70/MW-hour. The price is set by free trading at the Leipzig-based EEX energy stock exchange—which treats renewables preferentially against fossil energy sources.
