Trump Invited to Pyongyang, Invited Kim to the White House

June 12, 2018 (EIRNS)—Asked at his Singapore press conference if he would be going to Pyongyang, Trump responded:

“I will at the appropriate time. I also will be inviting Chairman Kim at the appropriate time to the White House. I would think it would be something that will be very important. He has accepted. I said at the appropriate time. We want to go further down the road.”

He repeated several times that the process had just begun, but that things would move quickly—in fact, he said, there had been much greater progress already than he had expected. The Joint Statement, he said was more comprehensive than he had expected, and that even more agreements were reached that were not included in the Statement, such as Kim’s pledge to shut down a missile engine testing ground, and to move forward on returning the remains of soldiers from the Korean War.
