Joint Estonia-NATO Military Exercise Begins on Russia’s Border

May 2, 2016 (EIRNS)—In yet another provocation against Russia, today Estonian troops will join with military personnel from ten NATO nations to begin the Spring Storm exercises in the southeastern part of Estonia, right on the border with Russia. The exercise will continue until May 20, Sputnik reported today.

Of the 6,000 soldiers participating, 1,500 of them will come from NATO members Latvia, Lithuania, the Netherlands, the United States, the United Kingdom, and Germany. According to RT, Finish staff officers and Canadian "teams of specialists" will also participate. NATO countries will also provide military hardware for the exercise, which is the largest to take place this year in Estonia. In a statement quoted by Sputnik, Lt. Gen. Riho Terras, Commander-in-Chief of the Estonian Defense Forces, said that Spring Storm will provide military units with important training, "preparing them for war-time."
